About the roleThe Head of Risk Advisory - Member and Employer Experience (MEX), Strategy & Corporate Affairs plays a pivotal role in ensuring Cbus' trustee and fund administration businesses operate within a robust risk and compliance framework. Reporting to the Group Head of Risk Advisory, this senior leader is responsible for delivering strategic, timely and accurate risk and compliance advice to the MEX and Strategic & Corporate Affairs business units.
You will oversee the effectiveness of risk management practices, monitor risk profiles and key risk indicators and ensure alignment with Cbus' group‑wide risk appetite and compliance obligations. It involves leading a team of Risk professionals, supporting regulatory change initiatives, managing incidents and breaches and contributing to internal audit and board level reporting.
Key Accountabilities- Support the Group Head of Risk Advisory in driving risk and compliance culture across Cbus by influencing executives and senior leaders.
- Provide timely, strategic risk and compliance advice to MEX and Strategy & Corporate Affairs whilst overseeing risk registers, profiles and tolerance levels.
- Build trusted relationships with business units, guiding them through regulatory changes, risk issues and strategic initiatives.
- Lead and mentor a team of risk professionals, driving performance, engagement and capability development.
- Managing incident and breach processes, support regulatory lodgements and contribute to internal audit and board‑level risk reporting.
- Experience in a similar Head of Risk Advisory or similar Compliance related roles ideally in Superannuation, Financial Services or related industry.
- Deep understanding of superannuation operations including insurance, financial advice, claims, member complaints and ASIC breach reporting.
- Strong grasp of financial services law and regulatory obligations relevant to superannuation with experience supporting advice programmes that meet both member and regulatory needs.
- Proven ability to lead high performing teams, influence stakeholders across all levels and embed compliance culture within a three-lines-of-accountability model.
- Demonstrated success in managing compliance programmes, regulatory change and continuous improvement initiatives.
