Your New Role
In this role you will be reporting into the Senior Manager, Risk Advisory, and will be a key member of the Risk Advisory team within Group Risk (Line 2) and interfaces with colleagues across the Fund.
This is a multifaceted role that is intended to provide necessary Line 2 support and guidance as it relates to the embedment of risk management activities for the Colleagues & Culture and Strategy & Corporate Affairs Domains.
This is a key role, responsible for providing advice, oversight and challenge on risk management practices, working closely with Line 1 colleagues to assist them to identify, assess and manage risks, within the context of the AustralianSuper Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Statement. This role requires significant utilisation of influence and collaboration skills.
Some key duties include but are not limited to;
Provide insights, analysis, with respect of the Fund’s risk profile, based on a thorough technical understanding of risk management, together with knowledge of the business
Provide independent, specialist Line 2 support through oversight and challenge of Line 1 risk management activities
Act as a trusted advisor in relation to risk matters; providing strategic, well thought out advice to ensure that Line 1 effectively manages risk, and in doing so, achieves measurable business and member outcomes
Build and maintain strong relationships at all levels across AustralianSuper and have a strong grasp over business objectives, challenges and risks (current and emerging) to facilitate greater collaboration between Lines 1 and 2 in relation to the management of risk
Contribute both functional expertise and broader leadership and business management ideas, skills, and experience as part of cross-Fund initiatives
Motivate and inspire the team and suppliers by demonstrating commitment to the Fund’s values, decision pillars and leadership principles
Nurture and maintain internal relationships across all levels of the Fund
Ensure relevant legislative and organisational requirements are met; keep up to date on all key changes to relevant regulations.
What You’ll Need
8-10 years’ experience preferably gained in a Financial Services organisations or professional services firms
Excellent understanding of risk and controls management practices including an understanding of relevant standards (ISO and COSO)
Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA),or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper.
Experience in the completion of risk management activities including risk identification, risk assessments and control assurance activities and/or Internal Auditing experience
Experience in the development and delivery of Line 2 risk management activities
Strong communication skills and ability to engage and influence with a range of stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements to shape business outcomes.
